What has been the most challenging implementation that you have done? Tell us why it was challenging, what the implemented solution was, and what the results were.
One of our most challenging implementations was at Atal Tunnel, a highway tunnel built under the Rohtang Pass in the eastern Pir Panjal range of the Himalayas on the Leh-Manali Highway in Himachal Pradesh, India. The 9.02 km long tunnel is the longest highway single-tube tunnel above 10,000 feet (3,048 m) in the world. Besides the herculean challenges that are obvious with the altitude and extreme weather, during the first phase of deployment, we faced challenges pertaining to the alignment of cameras, and tunnel height, which was too low to run Artificial Intelligence programs.

The credit goes to our wonderful team; our developers created an AI Machine Learning program to produce more accurate results under dire conditions, even during winter. Besides detecting speed violations and sending alerts to the control room, we also deployed a module for wrong-way detection--any vehicle making a wrong turn or passing through the wrong side of the road would trigger alarms and send it to the control room. Going a step further, we incorporated modules not only for registering the number of vehicles entering and exiting the tunnel but also for vehicle classification. We take great pride in the fact that we completed the project on time against great odds.

Where is the company headed in the years to come? What are your future innovation goals?
Going forward, even though deep learning models have enabled the automation of camera-based applications, video analytics and devising actionable insights remain a complicated process that calls for extensive domain expertise in the fields of machine learning, computer vision, computer systems, and networks. Hence, we have developed a video-analytics-as-a-service (VAaaS) model that will eradicate the complexity barrier and equip organizations with flexibility, agility, and efficiency for applications based on video analytics.

Mirasys is always striving to be at the forefront of the latest technology, and we have some exciting goals for the future.
