| |MAY 20254Last year, India installed the AI supercomputer 'AIRAWAT' at C-DAC, Pune, which is ranked 75th globally. This positions the country among the leading nations in AI supercomputing. This marks a significant milestone in terms of enhancing our capabilities. However, advancements in hybrid computing in the country depend on expanding the network infrastructure. It's a great omen that 5G services, since its introduction in October 2022, have been deployed across all States and Union Territories in India. It's nothing short of impressive how we have already reached 99.6 percent of the country's districts with 5G rollout. As of February 28, 2025, telecom service providers (TSPs) have installed 4.69 lakh 5G Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) nationwide, marking one of the fastest 5G network rollouts in the world.According to government data, since the launch of 5G services in the country, approximately 25 crore mobile subscribers have started using 5G services, and 4.69 lakhs 5G BTSs have been installed across the country. This shows that users are steadily adopting the 5G services. Remember, almost all Western countries lag behind India in terms of 5G deployment, giving the country a unique edge. It's imperative that we leverage this opportunity to enhance our hybrid computing ecosystem. This special annual issue of CIO Insider delves deeper into the hybrid computing landscape in India, featuring a bunch of companies setting benchmarks in the industry.
