Telecom giant Airtel introduced an AI-driven tool that provides immediate safeguards for customers against the swiftly escalating threat of One-Time Password (OTP)-related banking frauds. This occurs as the company intensifies its efforts to fight the issue of spam.

The system detects possibly hazardous situations and alerts the affected customers. If a bank OTP is flagged as fraudulent during a possibly dangerous incoming call, Airtel's AI system will step in to issue a fraud alert check to the customer. This solution is currently active in Haryana, and the company plans to implement it for all its customers within the next two weeks.

It would notify the user about the potential danger of permitting consent for a banking transaction OTP to be sent while they remain on the call.

According to the company, this strong blend of AI-powered insights and human assessment provides clients with essential time to reflect, confirm, and maintain solid control over their security, effectively eliminating the opportunity that scammers take advantage of.

Scammers frequently take advantage of customers' urgency linked to OTPs for everyday services such as delivery, tricking them into disclosing banking-transaction-OTPs and putting their account savings at risk of fraud.
