Andhra Govt to Discuss with Social Media Platforms on Online Safety
The government of Andhra Pradesh has chosen to invite social media platforms to its upcoming Group of Ministers meeting to discuss increasing worries about online safety.
The meeting will discuss improving safety on digital media platforms, particularly for women and children.
In response to increasing worries regarding online safety, the Andhra Pradesh government has revealed that prominent global social media platforms will be invited to the upcoming meeting of the Group of Ministers focused on social media, according to reports.
Officials from Meta, X, Google, and ShareChat will be asked to attend the meeting.
State IT Minister Nara Lokesh, leading the GoM, noted that confidence in social media platforms is gradually diminishing, with children increasingly becoming addicted and excessively using these platforms, negatively affecting their education and focus.

Lokesh states that women persistently endure unyielding online abuse and harassment.
"This issue can no longer be overlooked," he stated, highlighting the government's dedication to proactive and accountable digital management.

In accordance with the plan established by the GoM, the southern state has mandated a thorough examination of current legal structures, particularly emphasizing age-suitable access to social media platforms.
The research will feature a comprehensive analysis by country of international best practices implemented in various regions, as indicated by reports.
The government stated that the results of the legal and comparative research, along with discussions with international platforms, will inform upcoming policy choices
