BrightChamps to Bridge Learning Gap by K12 Schools with $ 51 Million

BrightChamps, an Indian edtech startup seeking to bridge the learning gap left by K12 schools, has raised $51 million in a fresh funding round and $63 million since its launch a year ago, as the Goa-based firm wants to expand its footprints in over 10 countries.

Word on the street goes, the startup now weighs around $ 500 million in a new round led by Premji Invest, a private investment office of technology by billionaire Azim Premji, inculcates children with programming and other skills from over 10 markets with South Asia, US and Canada among others.

It’s said that more than a hundred thousand students have boarded the platform which is currently building a massive instruction platform leading a disruptive wave capable of turning India into one among the largest exporters of transformative digital education.

Over a thousand teachers have hopped on the platform and students are given the choice to learn skills from any language they prefer, while the startup dwells into expanding its offerings and on that note, rumor has it that the startup will be adding financial literacy as well.

The startup has conducted tests and will offer a peer-to-peer experience, with the goal of eventually creating a platform similar to Stack Overflow for children. It's also rumored to be interested in hosting olympiads and tech hackathons

The startup is said to have grown indigenous thus far without using any of the funds raised from its investors and is using the money received from its customers for its growth.

The startup started in Dubai and further expanded its empire to GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries after a good response.The edtech startup primarily offers three types of courses across various areas, with the most basic option costing around Rs 25,000.

Its executive team is now based in Goa, but the company aims to construct a facility in Bangalore for employees interested in working on a hybrid model. It plans to use the new funds to extend its presence in the US and Canada, as well as develop its existing markets.

BrightChamps is also looking into acquiring some companies that share its vision and values.
