Tata Consultancy Services, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure and Trigyn Technologies have agreed to the idea of rolling out India’s vaccination platform CoWin to other countries. Since a lot of countries had expressed interest in adopting India’s vaccination platform to vaccinate their citizens, during a global conclave organized by the government.

Surprisingly, there are about 50 countries across Central Asia, Latin America, and Africa showing interest in adopting the vaccination platform and among these countries include Canada and Mexico specifically seem to show more interest.

Upon such interests, the government took it to make the CoWin as an open-source platform and companies that rollout the initiative are said to receive a certification for the same.

Currently, it’s heard that there are about six companies which have got onto the idea and have also met the technical criteria.

Countries that adopt CoWIN will receive a fully functional software that can be quickly implemented.

These companies are then said to be given training in the technology and would then even be able to customize the vaccination platform to befit the requirements of other countries. By doing so, it only enables companies to understand the operations of the system but will also help them to assess the process of providing the platform for the interested countries.

The platform's benefits include the ability to provide digital certificates, which are essential for foreign travel. It also aids in the real-time tracking of vaccination doses, preventing wasting and duplication.

CoWin is described as a citizen-centric platform that acts as a single source of truth all the way down to the district level, says RS Sharma, Chief Executive, National Health Authority.

The National Digital Health Mission (NDHM), according to Sharma, is founded on the idea that many services can be given online. Individual will be able to access their records through the NDHM, which will house a number of databases.

CoWin, on the other end, has surpassed 300 million registered users. This follows India's most gruelling war against the virus's second wave, which put a large portion of the population at risk.

Since the wake of the coronavirus it has claimed about three lakh lives and infected nearly 30 million people as of May 23rd, 2021. Companies of all sizes are setting up and organising vaccination clinics to protect their employees and their families.

The federal government has indicated that residents can sign up for vaccines on either the CoWin platform or Arogya Setu to help stop the spread of COVID-19's third wave.

Countries that adopt CoWIN will receive a fully functional software that can be quickly implemented.
