DXC and ICT Academy to Enhance Virtual Education and Employment in Rural India

DXC Technology has announced a new partnership with ICT Academy, a non-profit project of the Indian government in conjunction with state governments and industries, to train 7,500 rural school teachers in digital teaching skills and 10,000 graduating female students in advanced IT skills.

The Rural Teachers Empowerment Program will provide digital instruction to 7,500 schoolteachers, allowing them to successfully provide interactive courses to students.
Teachers from Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry in India will emerge from this initiative.

The Women Empowerment Program will assist 10,000 graduating women from India's tier II, III, and rural regions in learning new information technology skills. These skills would in turn improve their employability and entrepreneurship.

“Both these programs for teachers and women students align with the DXC goal of building a strong and inclusive future for the country. We are proud to collaborate with ICT Academy in bringing about systematic change in digital literacy in rural India”, Lokendra Sethi, HR Head - India, DXC Technology said.

The initiative seeks to raise educational standards in the country's rural areas.

M. Sivakumar, the CEO of ICT Academy, expressed delight in receiving support from DXC Technology in the implementation of two major programs that target rural teachers and women students.

“ICT Academy focuses on faculty development and student skill development as their core objectives. I believe this will create a positive impact in the society touching the lives of thousands of rural students and underserved women”, added Sivakumar

He clarified how the global economic gap is a major problem for all developed countries. Growing technologies and devastating incidents worsen polarization and generate societal challenges such as universal schooling, gender equity, and access to technology, among other things. He specified how the deliverance of quality education, upgrading the capabilities of the future workforce, and strengthening citizens' digital literacy, the timely funding would help to close the gap.

“Education is a key focus area for DXC, and we place added emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) skills enhancement among primary and secondary school and college students. This year, our focus is on promoting advanced IT skills amongst communities that need access to streamlined education means”, added Lokendra.
