NeGD and CSC E-Governance Sign MOU to Increase Digital Inclusion via UMANG

The Ministry of Electronics & IT’s (MeitY) National e-Governance Division (NeGD) signs an MOU with CSC (Common Service Center) e Governance Services India Limited, to enable Digital Inclusion across the length and breadth of India. With the agreement, NeGD can make the services on UMANG app available to citizens through the network of 3.75 lakh CSCs. The CSC operators Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) will enable citizens to avail 1000+ e-Governance services of 140 Departments through the UMANG App.
The CSCs were set up in 2009 under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, which today plays a pivotal role in India’s Digital India program. It is also the key access points for delivery of various electronic services to villages in India, including rural and remote locations where availability of computers and Internet is negligible or mostly absent.
On the other hand, UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-Age Governance), an iconic award-winning mobile app launched by the union government in 2017, is all-in-one single unified secure multi-channel multi-platform freeware mobile app for accessing over 841 services through 127 department central and state government services in 13 Indian languages over Android, iOS, Windows. It offers free services pertaining to AADHAR, DigiLocker, Bharat Bill Payment System, PAN, EPFO services, PMKVY services, AICTE, CBSE, tax and fee or utilities bills payments, education, job search, tax, business, health, agriculture, travel, birth certificates, e-District, passport and much more. The app received four illustrious awards including the ‘Best m-Government service’ award at the 6th World Government Summit held at Dubai, UAE in Feb 2018.
The MOU between UMANG and CSCs, will be of great advantage to the 140 departments connected on UMANG platform as well, since their services will be rendered in an assisted mode in a unified manner, without incurring any cost.
