Amazon Brings 'Amazon Future Engineer' to India

Amazon dropped its Amazon Future Engineer, a computer science education program, in India to offer quality education and career opportunities to students hailing from economically backward sections.
Through this program, the e-commerce giant offers educational materials, scholarships, internships, and mentors to not only cover CS courses, but cover concepts on robotics, AI, and machine learning to students and equip teachers with resources in India.
While it’s at it, the e-commerce giant plans on pooling in over one lakh students from the government as well as other aided schools across the country with this program.
On that account, students in government schools in Karnataka, Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and Telangana will receive quality CS education thanks to Amazon's collaboration with a number of education-focused non-profit organizations.
The Future Engineer is working in tandem with organizations like Code.org to provide CS education to underserved and marginalized children and young adults. According to Amazon, the initiative is primarily aimed at students in grades six through twelve.
We are eager to bring the Amazon Future Engineer project to India because we think that all young people, regardless of their backgrounds, should have access to high-quality computer science education”, says Amit Agarwal, Amazon India's Global Senior Vice President and Country Head.
The program comes with features termed as 'Class Chats,' which helps students meet Amazonians to learn about careers in the tech industry, and the 'Amazon Cyber Robotics Challenge,' that helps inculcate programming basics while coding robots and discover how Amazon uses robots to deliver millions of products around the world.
For the last few years, the e-commerce giant has invested more than $6.5 billion in India, and has been looking into the education sector. It released JEE Ready, an app geared at assisting students preparing for admission to India's premier technical colleges, two years ago. JEE Ready, now called Amazon Academy, provides free online lectures and evaluates students' performance in mock examinations.
“In India, students from marginalized communities confront disproportionate educational challenges, particularly in the field of computer science. We are eager to bring the Amazon Future Engineer project to India because we think that all young people, regardless of their backgrounds, should have access to high-quality computer science education”, says Amit Agarwal, Amazon India's Global Senior Vice President and Country Head.
