Amazon.com Inc announced a slew of new and renovated products, as well as an update to its Alexa voice assistant with generative artificial intelligence, in an effort to draw consumers to the unprofitable product as competition from chatbots such as Google's Bard rises.

Alexa will communicate more organically next year, abandoning its artificial tone of nearly a decade, and will answer requests such as football game start times and culinary ideas.

Amazon demonstrated the device's ability to compose and read poems at the company's annual product launch in Arlington, Virginia.

Amazon launched Alexa in 2014, but has yet to find a consistent way to make it profitable, instead directing customers to the company's website for additional purchases.

Amazon also debuted redesigned versions of children's Fire tablets, the Show (an Echo with a screen), a television speaker, and new search features on the FireTV service to find free content at the event

The Seattle-based Corporation has worked hard to improve Alexa, especially after OpenAI's ChatGPT debuted in November with longform replies to complex queries. Similar chatbots generated a rush of investment in generative AI businesses.

According to reports, employee morale in Amazon's Lab126 hardware division has fallen as a result of shifting strategies and fears that the business is not producing successful consumer gadgets. Many items under development are intended to place Alexa in additional rooms of the home, such as a carbon monoxide monitor that includes the service.

Amazon also debuted redesigned versions of children's Fire tablets, the Show (an Echo with a screen), a television speaker, and new search features on the FireTV service to find free content at the event.
