To enhance the export of horticultural products, the Uttar Pradesh government plans to establish a state-of-the-art agri-export facility near the Noida International Airport in Jewar, according to Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh.

At the opening of the Uttar Pradesh Mango Festival 2025, he emphasized that this facility, which will be the first of its kind in India, will also assist neighboring states in exporting their agricultural and horticultural products.

Singh pointed out that Uttar Pradesh is a leader in mango production, stating, Mangoes are cultivated over 3.25 lakh hectares in Uttar Pradesh, yielding approximately 6.15 million metric tonnes, making us the top mango-producing state in India. He attributed the international acclaim of UP mangoes to the support of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, noting that Uttar Pradesh mangoes are already exported to nearly 20 countries.

Additionally, Singh mentioned that the Chief Minister had recently sent off fresh export shipments to London and the United Arab Emirates. He remarked that the forthcoming facility near the under-construction Jewar International Airport would transform agricultural exports.

"An integrated complex will provide all types of treatment and testing facilities required for international exports," Manoj says.

Once it becomes operational, the facility will allow agricultural and horticultural products from Uttar Pradesh and adjacent states to be treated, tested, packaged, and exported directly from Jewar using cargo planes

Manoj elaborated on the importance of such a centre, stating that various countries have distinct phytosanitary regulations. For instance, mangoes destined for the US must undergo gamma radiation treatment, while those going to Japan need hot water vapor treatment. Moreover, tests for pesticide residue levels and other criteria are necessary. Currently, there is no single location in India where all these export treatments can be done in one place.

Manoj also mentioned that discussions are in progress with the World Bank to gain support for this initiative. Once it becomes operational, the facility will allow agricultural and horticultural products from Uttar Pradesh and adjacent states to be treated, tested, packaged, and exported directly from Jewar using cargo planes.
