Yes, Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram are back to normal now!For about six hours people had to take a break from checking their social media stories, reels, news, photos, uploads including texting their near and dear and official ones. Facebook considered this to be the longest outage it's ever had for a while.

The outage occurred around 16:00 GMT with users all over the world clueless about when the services would be back, which were finally back and up at 22:00.

Until then users of WhatsApp particularly, according to DownDetector, a website specifically for tracking WhatsApp outages, took a clear analysis of the various drawbacks users faced starting with 40 percent being unable to download the app, 30 percent having issues texting the one they care about and 22 percent had trouble with the web version.

Therefore, many users then began reaching out to their concerned ones and of course the complaints about why such an event happened or when it will be fixed were taken to other social media platforms such as Twitter, Telegram, Snapchat and others.

In a tweet, renowned developer Jane Wong highlighted that the outage appeared to affect Facebook's internal websites as well.

In fact Signal even went on to tweet that it had witnessed a huge number of people showing up and using its platform to connect with the world.

WhatsApp took it to Twitter to apologize for the convenience tweeting, “Apologies to everyone who hasn't been able to use WhatsApp today. We're starting to slowly and carefully get WhatsApp working again. Thank you so much for your patience. We will continue to keep you updated when we have more information to share”.

Why this outage happened all of a sudden rumbling the entire social media land is that Facebook had some issues caused by a DNS problem, besides other services that were down at the same time.

While most were surely displeased with the incident, some made memes out of it, while some even joked away tweeting that they wanted a break from certain people and that the social media giants can take their time fixing the problem.

However, it’s not the first time that Facebook has experienced an outage, surely unlike the recent one that lasted this long, but of course, for a couple of hours in April, Facebook and Instagram were unavailable to millions of users in various regions of the world. The outage was the social networking giant's second in less than a month.

People turned to DownDetector after receiving error messages from Facebook and Instagram that said "sorry something went wrong."
