Ecommerce giant Flipkart has generated more than 2.2 lakh temporary job openings in supply chain, logistics, and last-mile delivery positions, in anticipation of the festive season.

Moreover, Flipkart's logistics system will establish 650 new delivery hubs exclusively for festive periods in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, as stated by the company.

Ahead of the holiday season, Flipkart is expanding job roles, infrastructure, and technology initiatives in 28 states. By generating more than 2.2 lakh job openings, enhancing last-mile connectivity, and promoting inclusive hiring in tier 2 and 3 cities, Flipkart's ecosystem-first strategy this festive season is designed for growth.

This encompasses a 10 percent increase in hiring women, along with an enhanced emphasis on generating additional festive job openings for persons with disabilities (PwD), Flipkart stated.

India will begin obtaining pricing information directly from e-commerce leaders such as Amazon and Flipkart, owned by Walmart, to reform its main inflation index, with the goal of reflecting changing consumption patterns and tackling worries that existing data is obsolete, stated the head of the statistics ministry.

The Ministry of Statistics has started collecting price data from e-commerce sites in 12 cities with populations over 2.5 million and is negotiating with platforms for direct data access

The shift could enhance India's retail inflation figures by incorporating prices from online platforms as their portion in household expenses increases. The change reflects a worldwide trend, as nations from the U.S. to South Korea include scanner and online prices in their inflation calculations.
