Google's Anti-Competitive Practices Hurt Indian Customers, Economy

As a result of confining ‘ swadeshi ’( indigenous) challengers, Google's anti-competitive practices ended up bruising Indian users and the economy, according to MapMyIndia.

During October, the internet mammoth Google was charged by the Competition Commission of India( CCI) for reigning dominance across regions linked with connections to android smartphones, for a sum of Rs.1,337.76 crore. Also, the panel advised internet mammoth to henceforth put a full stop of diving into illegal business practices.

However, the tech mammoth was formerly smeared in slush for involving in illegal business practices associated with android mobile device ecosystem upon CCI's orders, before the prayers of the bench NCLAT.

The result of these orders led to Google meaning it as hit on its android's security features which has a lot of Indian users and businesses using it. also, the tech mammoth is said to have allowed about the prices of smartphones adding due to the decision.

This week, Google moved the NCLAT to fight against CCI (order) and rolled out its big guns and PR machinery to disingenuously create spin, attempting to influence, coerce and shape the narrative in its own favor to prevent the excellent initiatives of CCI, Government of India and Parliament from being seen through”, adds Verma

Therefor, the situation concluded with the panel suggesting a revision to Competition Commission of India, including a technical digital requests unit within the same. This comes after suggesting the government to examine and present a Digital Competition Act to uphold a fair and transparent digital ecosystem.

"It is common knowledge in industry, government, regulators and those who have studied the matter in detail that Google is an anti-competitive monopoly that perpetuates its monopolies across newer and newer markets through anti-competitive practices that Google has made it pretty much impossible for alternative operating systems, app stores, and apps like maps to proliferate amongst OEMs and users”, according to MapMyIndia CEO and ED Rohan Verma.
