Ola Electric's Market Share Rose to 25.8 Percent in January

According to reports, Ola Electric sold 24,335 vehicles in January, increasing its market share by six percentage points to 25.8 percent.
However, this remains less than half of the Bengaluru-based company’s total market share of 53.6 percent in April last year.
The drop in market share coincides with growing customer complaints, regulatory snags, and competition in the electric two-wheeler market.
Ola Electric faces competition from TVS Motor, Bajaj Auto, and IPO-bound Ather Energy, which account for around 90 percent of the electric two-wheeler market.
Following a show-cause letter on October 8, 2024, about alleged consumer rights violations, deceptive advertising, and unfair trade practices, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) requested more papers from Ola Electric on January 11 as part of an ongoing investigation.
Separately, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) recently warned the company for breaching disclosure regulations after CEO Bhavish Aggarwal announced expansion plans on social media before notifying stock exchanges.
Along with this, the company is grappling with top-level management exits and social media criticism over vehicle quality and after-sales support.
On December 27, chief technology and product officer Suvonil Chatterjee and chief marketing officer Anshul Khandelwal resigned, adding to a series of senior executive departures across Ola Electric, artificial intelligence venture Krutrim, and ride-hailing platform Ola Cabs.
In October, a public spat erupted between Aggarwal and comedian Kunal Kamra. Kamra raised concerns on X (formerly Twitter) about Ola’s scooter quality, sharing an image of multiple EVs parked at an Ola service center.
Ola Electric has been expanding its store and service network while launching new scooter models with additional features tailored to different consumer segments.
