According to reports, OpenAI has raised $8.3 billion in fresh capital, valuing the business at an estimated $300 billion. The oversubscribed round was announced months in advance.

SoftBank is anticipated to contribute up to $30 billion by the end of the year, according to OpenAI's ambitions to raise a substantial amount of funding back in March. The business had already secured $2.5 billion from venture capital firms at that point, with plans to raise an additional $7.5 billion before the end of the year. But the money arrived sooner and far more than expected.

Major private equity firms like Blackstone and TPG, as well as mutual fund manager T. Rowe Price, were among the many new investors who joined this most recent round. Other noteworthy attendees were Fidelity,, Founders Fund, Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Coatue, Altimeter, D1 Capital, Tiger Global, and Thrive Capital.

With a $2.8 billion commitment, Dragoneer Investment Group made the largest single investment.

The robust financial growth of OpenAI was also emphasised in the report. From $10 billion in June, the company's yearly recurring revenue has increased to $13 billion. It is anticipated to surpass $20 billion by the year's end.

Study mode is designed to be engaging and interactive, and to help students learn something -- not just finish something

OpenAI has added "study mode" to ChatGPT, a new feature designed to assist students in working through issues step-by-step rather than giving them straight answers.

All logged-in users of the Free, Plus, Pro, and Team plans now have access to the feature, and ChatGPT Edu will be available soon.

The study mode offers personalized feedback to track progress and supports knowledge retention.

“When students engage with study mode, they're met with guiding questions that calibrate responses to their objective and skill level to help them build deeper understanding. Study mode is designed to be engaging and interactive, and to help students learn something -- not just finish something," OpenAI says.
