UP Government to Harness AI to Make Social Welfare Schemes More Effective

The Uttar Pradesh government plans to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance the effectiveness, transparency, and integrity of social welfare schemes, according to reports.
The Social Welfare Department is advancing in enhancing the technological oversight of essential welfare programs like pensions for the elderly, family benefits, scholarships, and mass wedding events.
This initiative seeks to guarantee that benefits go to the appropriate recipients while also making administrative processes quicker, paperless, and more transparent.
To remove any possibility of irregularities, the department is looking into implementing an AI-driven monitoring system.
A recent workshop focused on 'Utilization of AI in Social Welfare Programs' was held with the attendance of Social Welfare Minister (Independent Charge) Asim Arun.
The statement noted that AI will enhance precision in verifying data, identifying beneficiaries, and implementing schemes, which will help reduce fraud and ensure that assistance is delivered promptly to legitimate beneficiaries.
