Niti Aayog pegs EV sales penetration in India at 80 percent for two- and three-wheelers by 2030. The numbers clearly indicate a revolution in the making. Where is Comuti positioned in this industry with its battery solutions? What are your target segments?
We are well positioned to grab the opportunity in the niche delivery area of supplying battery packs to two-wheeler and three-wheeler markets. We aim to capture at least 10 to 15 percent of market share by catering services across our target segments, which are two-wheeler, three-wheeler, and four-wheeler (PV, LCV, Golf carts & Fork Lifts).

What makes Comuti’s energy storage solutions unique? What do you do differently? Tell us about your portfolio of solutions.
We use the latest lithium-ion battery technologies viz NMC, LFP, LTO in our current battery packs, while also incorporating state-of-the-art thermal management systems, which make sure that thermal runaway doesn’t happen with our battery packs. This protects

our battery packs when they are deployed in harsh environments. We use model-based algorithms in assessing the performance of the battery pack through our in-house designed Battery Management System (BMS), which is embedded inside the battery pack. Additionally, with cutting-edge IoT technologies deployed in the battery packs, we track various health parameters in real time and intimate users proactively on the performance of each battery pack.

Tell us about the technologies/ resources that you leverage while building your energy storage solutions. Also, how would you describe your Customer Engagement Model?
We leverage on our strong 80+ man years of experience in automobile, chemical, electrical and mechanical engineering in developing the solutions for our customers. We have expertise in thermal management, mechanical designs, Electronics – Hardware, Firmware and Software and IoT designs.

We leverage on our strong 80+ man years of experience in automobile, chemical, electrical and mechanical engineering in developing the solutions for our customers. We have expertise in thermal management, mechanical designs, Electronics – Hardware, Firmware and Software and IoT designs. Our Customer Engagement Model comprises three major phases: Proof of Concept (POC), Prototype Design, and Delivery. The POC phase implies meticulous efforts to understand the customer’s requirements. The technology selection, the next step, is solely dependent on the requirements and optimization of re-sources. Once we have the design ready, we build the system architecture and subsequently a prototype. Furthermore, we make sure that our commitment doesn’t end with delivery. We ensure providing support and constantly endeavor to enhance & improve the product.

Do you engage in creating public awareness about the greener future

through EVs? What’s your marketing strategy?
We engage in creating public awareness via participating in EV Road Shows, exhibitions, events related to EV and other Renewable Energy events organized across the country. We are targeting B2B (EV products) and B2C (Solar) markets via social media platforms (Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) and professional networking sites like LinkedIn.

What does the future look like for Comuti? What’s in the pipeline?
Looking into the EV space and the technological advancements, we are foreseeing a revolution in the EV battery segment, thanks to the latest technologies like Al-Air batteries, Graphene based batteries, and Super Capacitors among others. Comuti, as a system integrator, sees a great opportunity in packaging any type of aforementioned battery technologies and thus preparing customized battery packs for targeted EV segments, while satisfying customer requirements.

We also foresee great market potential in second life and recycling of used battery packs. Comuti focuses on providing a solution for giving second lives to used battery packs across Solar and stationary ap-plications. We are currently in discussion with global companies in addressing the recycling aspects of used battery packs and realizing the usable materials from that.

Another big opportunity that we foresee in the EV market is deployment of Hydrogen based solutions into commercial vehicles like buses, trucks and other heavy machinery. Comuti has tied up with global companies in designing a suitable solution towards Hydrogen based solutions for the EV segment, targeting Hydrogen based fuel cell modules for LCV and afore-mentioned market segments. Building Hydrogen Generation Stations, Hydrogen Fuel Cells & Stacks, and Fuel Cell stacks for 2/3/4 Wheelers, and Fuel Cell based Electric Vehicles are also on the cards.
