In conversation with Raja Ramasamy, Product Manager, Zoho Corporation

Identifying strengths and weaknesses is the secret to unlocking the potential of every employee. What are the strategies evaluated by Zoho People to help organizations identify their employees’ strengths and weaknesses?
Zoho People is not just about making life easier for the HR department, but for the employees too. We have been in the market for more than 10 years and have helped thousands of businesses create healthy relationships between the HR department and the employees. By helping HR departments in identifying their workforce’s strengths and weaknesses, we also enable tracking of employees’ goals, KRAs, skillsets, and

competencies. All these are not just information stored in the system. They are updated in real-time with the feedback that is continuously shared about the employees’ work. This could help the company to identify each and every employee’s strengths and weakness with respect to work.

Zoho, and by extension, has always honoured its users' rights to data privacy and protection

Tracking of employee data has never been easier. The searchable, secure records might include employees’ personal details and bank information. How far Zoho Corporation has accomplished in tracking and keeping a safety measure for the employee data?
Zoho, and by extension, has always honoured its users' rights to data privacy and protection. Over the years, we have demonstrated our commitment towards this by consistently exceeding industry standards. We have no need to collect and process users’ personal information beyond what is required for the functioning of our products, and this will never change. We have physical security as well as software (firewall), protecting our data centres 24x7. We have conducted Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA), and based on the results, appropriate regulations are followed on data processing and management areas. We have regular audits to ensure none of the privacy laws are breached.

Zoho has been delivering essential software to address business problems for years now. Share one of your successful implementation stories that showcase how Zoho People benefitted the organization.

We have numerous clients from several industries such as software, consulting, construction, food delivery, and many others. The airline industry, however, turned out to be very different from all the verticals that we had dealt with in the past. Firsthand experience with a client in aviation proved to be a great learning opportunity. We were able to improve Zoho People and brace it to tackle the individual obstacles faced in this industry. With Zoho People, we were able to automate and streamline their HR processes. After discovering that shift managements like scheduling, mapping, rules, and regularization in an airline company is entirely different from other industries, we customized our features to provide more control and automation. We also configured scenario-based changes in these controls while working off data captured from multiple client devices in different locations. During the implementation process, there were always new requirements popping up. At times, both parties felt that a different approach or a different process was needed for certain functions. They were able to address such changes and requirements through the flexible nature of Zoho People.

If used in a proper way and to the fullest potential, employee management software are expected to make its presence in every HR section, making it a highly competitive market. What is the future blueprint that you have conceived for Zoho People?
Our implementation process is still considered ongoing as our customer has requested more features and customization after the primary installation phase. In the long run, Zoho People will be aiming to ideally automate all HR operations for every organisation. We will also be expanding our offerings to ensure that we cover every aspect of HR and be a full-fledged HCM product.
