IBM CEO Arvind Krishna has joined the US India Strategic and Partnership Forum (USISPF) Board of Directors.

In addition to his role as CEO, Krishna, the Indian-American is a member of the boards of Northrop Grumman and the New York Federal Reserve Bank.

"His knowledge about technology is unmatched, and his track record for leading market transitions in areas like hybrid cloud business, quantum computing, and artificial intelligence is remarkable," said USISPF chairman Jon Chambers.

He described Krishna as a great visionary and leader who never loses sight of what's best for society as a whole.

As India continues to be a hub for the transformative force of technology, Shantanu Narayen, Chair and CEO of Adobe and vice chairman of USISPF, noted that Krishna's strong leadership and deep technical skills in AI, cloud, quantum computing, and global operations will be vital.

"When you think of the various diaspora success stories and the rise of the Indian-American CEO across Fortune 100 companies, you think of Arvind Krishna at IBM. At a time when the US and India are working to secure a deeper collaboration in the field of critical and emerging technologies, Arvind's deep expertise in this sector will be an invaluable asset," said USISPF president and CEO Mukesh Aghi.

According to USISPF, Krishna developed IBM's security software division and assisted in the development of the first commercial wireless system in history.

"For years, Arvind has successfully built strong commercial links between the US and India. During the pandemic, Arvind's indefatigable efforts helped USISPF supply essential materials in oxygen cylinders and concentrators to help aid the several million COVID-19 victims in India," he said.

Veteran of the tech sector and IBM for over 30 years, Krishna has spearheaded the creation and growth of new markets for the company in blockchain, artificial intelligence, cloud, and quantum computing.

Along with spearheading a number of audacious changes that have produced demonstrable commercial outcomes, such as the 50 percent growth of IBM's Information Management division, Krishna has also been a driving force behind the creation of cutting-edge IBM products and solutions.

"The US and India share a unique bond, rooted in shared democratic values and strong economic and cultural ties. As a member of the USISPF, I look forward to finding ways for our two nations to use the power of technology to drive economic growth, create opportunities for all, and address the unique challenges of our time," Krishna said.

Krishna was chosen by Wired Magazine in 2016 as "one of 25 geniuses who are creating the future of business" in recognition of his groundbreaking blockchain research.

Krishna is a renowned IT expert, but he considers himself to be a lifelong student. He has also been a vocal supporter of lifelong learning at all career stages.

According to USISPF, Krishna developed IBM's security software division and assisted in the development of the first commercial wireless system in history. He has also made important scientific contributions in a number of technical domains, including wireless networking, security, systems, and databases.
