The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, has devised a cloud-based platform called DigiLocker and Paytm users can access its functionality through Paytm’s mini-app store. Paytm also welcomed the new service onto its platform through its announcements stating that users can save and access their digital documents.

Paytm users can access the platform at all times and by that it means they can access it even when they are offline or out of network connectivity to all their government records. The data stays on the platform regardless of whether it’s accessed offline or in low connectivity zones.

With this platform, Paytm users can now add or retrieve documents Aadhar, driving license, vehicle RC, Insurance, Covid-19 vaccine certificates, and others.

However, Paytm claims that it does store or send any documents from its backend.

According to the Information Technology Act of 2000, DigiLocker documents are legally recognized on par with original papers.

"DigiLocker's goal, coupled with the Digital India objective, is to provide a digital platform for paperless services to all Indian people. Our relationship with Paytm Mini App will extend DigiLocker's services to Paytm customers, allowing them to access crucial papers such as Aadhar, Driving License, and more in one spot, eliminating the need to carry all paper documents”, states MeitY.

Documents such as a driver's licence and vehicle registration certificate, an Aadhar card, and mark sheets, among others, can be retrieved and stored using the DigiLocker. Digilocker documents can also be used for self-KYC and video KYC with telecom carriers, online share trading platforms, and other fintech platforms, as needed.

Users can view and access the documents by going to the profile section of the Paytm App and selecting 'Your Documents.' Users can access DigiLocker documents once they have been added to Paytm, even if they're in low-connectivity zones or offline.

Users can use the Paytm app to access their DigiLocker and retrieve, add, save or store, and even get authenticated electronic copies of documents from registered organizations right into their lockers, removing the need to carry physical documents.

For those who are vaccinated or getting vaccinated through Paytm can easily add their Vaccine Certificates to Digilocker with a single click.

"We are pleased to add the Digilocker functionality to the Paytm App. Millions of users who use the Paytm app for vaccine booking, travel, FASTag, insurance, KYC, and a variety of other purposes will be overjoyed to learn about the DigiLocker feature, which will provide them with ease and simple access to crucial documents”, states Paytm.
