According to Counterpoint Research, the iPhone hit a 50 percent landmark in the quarter ending in June and is the highest share since its launch in 2007. Apple has overtaken Android in the number of smartphones used in the US. At this year’s event, Far Out, Apple launched its iPhone 14 series, along with the new versions of the Apple Watch and AirPods. Here are the highlights of each release.

The iPhone 14 & iPhone 14 Plus
The iPhone 14 devices are now coming with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch display sizes. Starting September 16, the iPhone 14 will cost $799, whereas the iPhone 14 Plus will go on sale on October 7, costing $899. Both are available for pre-order starting on September 9. Embedded with an A15 Bionic chip, launched last year, the iPhone 14 devices will sport a new front camera with autofocus. It has an improved camera technology that can take photographs in any lighting. Additionally, the camera has an Action mode for extra fluid footage. On the other hand, they have crash detection and the new Emergency SOS through the Satellite service, and they are powered by the A15 Bionic chip. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus have five colors to choose from, which are midnight, starlight, blue, purple, and red.

The iPhone 14 Pro & iPhone 14 Pro Max
On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro devices will feature an A16 Bionic chip. The wallpaper for a lock screen with easily available information is dimmed by the always-on display. On top of the display, there is a new ‘dynamic island’ that is interactive and pops up warnings, notifications, and activities. The most outstanding iPhone camera system yet is also included in the device. The quad-pixel sensor in the 48-megapixel camera is akin to four professional lenses at the ready. Here, the A16 Bionic chip examines and enhances each pixel, capturing four times as much data as previously. Professional photographers may now take 48-megapixel raw images without any compression.

Additionally, the camera has a brand-new Action mode with gimbal-like stability. It provides 24 frames per second recording and 4k resolution video. The Pro Max starts at $1099, while the iPhone 14 Pro starts at $999. On September 9, they will be pre-orderable, and on September 16, they will ship. This year’s iPhone 14 Pro version comes in four colors. They come in deep purple, silver, gold, and space black.

Apple created a custom short text compression algorithm that reduces the size of average messages by a factor of three

Apple Watch Models
The Watch Series 8 has a similar appearance to the Watch 7, but with smaller bezels and a bigger display. Menstrual cycle monitoring was a three-year-old addition by Apple to the Watch. Now, the Apple Watch Series 8 has a variety of sophisticated cycle tracking tools, including useful data on ovulation, a crucial component of women's health.

Crash detection is another feature of the Series 8. It will immediately contact you with emergency services if it detects a car crash. The Watch still comes with an 18-hour battery life. It now has a low-power mode that can extend battery life to 36 hours on a single charge. The Series 8 costs $499 for cellular and $399 for GPS. Orders placed now will be delivered on September 16.

All of the essential features of an Apple Watch are included in the new Apple Watch SE 2. Crash detection is now included in it. It comes in three colors: silver, midnight, and starlight. GPS and cellular versions cost $249 and $299, respectively. Orders placed now will be delivered on September 16. The popular wearable from Apple comes in a larger, more robust version called the Apple Watch Ultra.

In fact, it could compete with Garmin's high-end tough watches at a higher price range. Garmin is the market leader for smartwatches costing more than $500, despite the Apple Watch's long-standing dominance in the smartwatch and wearables categories.

The price of the Apple Watch Ultra is $799. Orders placed now will be delivered on September 23.

AirPods Pro 2
Compared to the AirPod Pros, these AirPods feature superior sound, a longer battery life, and are more environmentally friendly. The new H2 chip in the AirPods Pro 2 will significantly improve performance. A low distortion audio driver will change the sound, giving it more detail and clarity than ever before. Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode can both receive significant improvements thanks to the H2 chip. An important update is the enhanced noise cancellation which will have twice as much noise cancellation as the previous model, thanks to the new H2 chip's power. The updated AirPods will also have an adaptive transparency function that dynamically mutes loud outdoor noises like passing cars and heavy construction.

Personalized Spatial Audio is yet another enhanced feature, as it allows a customized listening experience by placing sounds exactly where they are needed. With Active Noise Cancellation, the battery life is also longer than the previous, offering up to six hours of listening time on a single charge. The battery life of the charging case is 30 hours, which is six hours more than its forerunner.

The use of magnets made entirely of recycled rare earth elements is another significant part of this release. In addition, Apple plated some printed circuit boards with 100 percent recycled metals for the first time. According to Apple, the primary logic board's solder for the AirPods also contains 100 percent recycled tin, and the hinge is made entirely of 100 percent recycled aluminum.

Emergency SOS Service through the Satellite
Since satellites are about thousands of miles above the Earth, it makes it hard to reach. But they offer a lifeline when cell towers fail to reach areas like winding back roads. To solve this problem, Apple built custom components and software. These components and software will show the direction in which the user can get their phone to establish a connection.

Additionally, Apple created a custom short text compression algorithm that reduces the size of average messages by a factor of three. With this algorithm, users can send messages in less than 15 seconds. After the message is delivered to a ground station, it then needs to reach the right emergency service provider. For that, Apple has set up relay centers that are run by trained emergency specialists who are waiting to receive your texts.
