Indian online grocery delivery service, Grofers, now goes by the name Blinkit to pivot its business model to quick commerce. Quick commerce is simply the delivery of small quantities of goods to consumers in a short span of time.

No sooner Grofers joined the unicorn club, 10 minute delivery service was immediately set up through its dark stores which are known for online orders only.

'”A few months ago, we started on a journey to build the future of commerce with 10 minute delivery of most of the stuff our customers need in their daily lives. We learnt a lot as Grofers, and all our learnings, our team, and our infrastructure is being repurposed to pivot to something with staggering product-market fit – quick commerce”, says Blinkit.

The 10 minute delivery service, launched a few months ago, is already said to be processing more than a million orders per week across 12 cities in India.

“Today, we are surging ahead as a new company, and we have a new mission statement – instant commerce indistinguishable from magic. And we will no longer be doing this as Grofers – we will be doing it as Blinkit”, adds Dhindsa

"Once upon a time, a few months ago, we started on a journey to build the future of commerce with 10 minute delivery of most of the stuff our customers need in their daily lives. Today, we already process over a million orders a week, across 12 cities in India. And this is just a start”, says Albinder Dhindsa, Co-founder and CEO, Grofers.

By the end of the year, the grocery delivery platform plans to open 150 dark stores bringing them to a total of 350, while its quick commerce proceeds with its 10 minute deliveries. Therefore, in the process of acquiring one million quick commerce consumers, the grocery delivery platform is said to have grown 3.5 times in two months, coupled with a three million monthly order run rate.

According to a RedSeer analysis, India's quick commerce sector is predicted to increase from USD 0.3 billion to $ 5 billion by 2025.

The report says that quick commerce is developing in India as a result of developments such as a shift in consumer behaviour, the introduction of significant firms like BigBasket and Grofers, and the rise of immediate delivery platforms.

Swiggy, a food delivery platform, announced an investment of $ 700 million (about Rs 5,250 crore) in its rapid grocery delivery service, Instamart, earlier this month. Ola began testing a rapid delivery service for products like groceries in Bangalore last month. Dunzo is one of the other players in the market.

"We learnt a lot as Grofers, and all our learnings, our team, and our infrastructure is being repurposed to pivot to something with staggering product-market fit – quick commerce”, conveys Dhindsa.

“Today, we are surging ahead as a new company, and we have a new mission statement – instant commerce indistinguishable from magic. And we will no longer be doing this as Grofers – we will be doing it as Blinkit”, adds Dhindsa.
