Firms in the IT and ITES sectors deliver tailored solutions that bridge complex challenges in public systems, healthcare, and supply chain management. Oasys Cybernetics, headquartered in Chennai, is a dynamic company with over two decades of experience, offering pan-India services. Established in 2000 as Omni Agate Systems, the company initially specialized in manufacturing electronic energy meters, serving states from Kerala to Himachal Pradesh.

It has transitioned into a robust software solutions provider and is now recognized as a prestigious CMMI Level 5 company. With presence in over 15 States in India and serving over 200 million beneficiaries across the nation, Oasys has been a pioneer in executing key projects in Healthcare, Public Distribution domains, Supply Chain management and Finance verticals.

In an exclusive interview with CIO Insiders magazine, K.R. Ilanghovan, Managing Director at Oasys Cybernetics discusses the organization’s offerings, his future roadmap for the organization, and much more.

What are Oasys Cybernetics' flagship offerings?
As a technology solutions provider, we collaborate with state governments to support people empowerment policies in key sectors such as public distribution systems (PDS) and healthcare. First in the nation to undertake the end-to-end PDS digitalization project on a State level, Oasys pioneered the development of India's first smart card that links ration cards with Aadhaar cards. This initiative has streamlined subsidy distribution, reduced fraud, and ensured accurate delivery of essential goods.

In healthcare, Oasys’ NexGen Healthcare Interoperability initiative connects hospital systems, centralizing patient records and enabling data-driven decisions through advanced analytics. This integration improves collaboration across departments, reduce errors, and leads to better, faster patient care. By transforming PDS and healthcare systems, we are contributing to greater transparency, efficiency, and improved public service outcomes across the nation.

We have successfully implemented an Integrated Excise Management System for the Department of Excise, Government of Uttar Pradesh that covers all manufacturing units of Breweries and Distilleries. The system is capable of handling 20 million transactions per day, and is a significant step towards digitization of all regulatory processes relating to the manufacture, bottling, stocking, transport and sale of liquor.

How does Oasys Cybernetics approach sustain ability in its operations and solutions?
The foundation of Oasys Cybernetics' operations and solutions are sustainability. Economically, we achieve cost-effective results by increasing operational efficiency, implementing cutting-edge technologies such as automation and blockchain, and modernizing legacy systems.

We provide seamless, comprehensive solutions with a robust in-house research and development (R&D) team, well-equipped labs, and experience in both software and hardware development

Socially, we focus on improving public distribution and healthcare systems to improve the quality of life for millions of people throughout India. Environmentally, our digitization and automation initiatives minimize reliance on paper based processes and optimize resource usage, contributing to a greener technological foot print.

What technology framework underpins Oasys Cybernetics' solutions, and which emerging technologies are the company planning to adopt?
We believe in solving for the future. We balance the usage of legacy and emerging technologies through careful strategic planning, incremental upgrades, and flexible integration. We adopt advanced or emerging tech within the broader architecture of legacy systems to provide deeper insights or increase operational efficiency such as by adding predictive analytics or automation features to the existing software environment.

Our hospital management solution used blockchain for maintaining electronic health records. We modernize legacy systems by breaking down monolithic legacy applications into micro services or through containerization by packaging them to run on modern infrastructure to increase flexibility while retaining core functionality. We acknowledge the deep-rooted impact technology has in our lives and we strive towards building solutions to enable that.

What role does the workforce play in driving the success of Oasys Cybernetics?
Our team understands the criticality and the importance of our projects. This translates into the dedication to providing customer care with the highest degree of attention. Their ability to adapt to emerging technology, efficiency with cross functional collaboration and commitment to deliver exceptional service have been key to our success.

What vision do you have for the future, and what level of market impact do you aim to achieve?
For decades, we have been at the center of digitalization of e-governance projects in the nation. That involved pioneering efforts to introduce technology into domains that were primarily analog.

Now that we see a greater degree of technology adoption, our goal is to provide that in the best possible manner and solve for the future. That involves using emerging technologies to address gaps in the legacy systems and embolden the system to be robust and thrive in the future.
