Accenture Leans on AI to Drive Mid-Single-Digit Growth by 2028
Accenture aims for mid-single-digit growth in constant currency over the next two years and anticipates this to rise to high single digits by financial year 2029, believing that demand for artificial intelligence (AI) services will mitigate the existing revenue challenges in the industry.
“Our financial goal over the next three years is to attain at least mid-single-digit revenue growth in constant currency for FY27 and FY28. Following that, there will be an increase in growth from mid-single-digit to high-single-digit beginning in FY29 and capturing market share across the whole timeframe. “Our goal involves further increasing operating margin while making significant investments,” Accenture chairperson and CEO Julie Sweet stated during an investor day event on Thursday.
Accenture is viewed as a leader in the IT services sector, and its performance acts as an indicator to assess demand from corporate clients. The firm’s fourth-quarter performance exceeded analyst forecasts, boosting the spirits of the industry — particularly Indian IT firms — as they persist in dealing with revenue and margin challenges.
Sweet recognized that AI efficiencies could influence the company’s business “more than ever,” although she feels the new demand generated will greatly surpass the demand being replaced.

The initial step is to expand in markets where we are already present but experience greater growth
Meanwhile, AI revenue continues to be inconsistent and limited in scale, making it unable to reproduce the substantial cost optimization agreements that fueled growth for many years.

Sweet mentioned that Accenture has initiated 18,000 AI projects over the past four years and currently employs 110,000 AI and data experts, an increase from 40,000 during that time. In 2026, it recorded 141 quarterly bookings with a total contract value of $100 million, an increase from 100 in 2022.
Sweet noted that Accenture has significantly gained from its strategic acquisitions in recent years. "The initial step is to expand in markets where we are already present but experience greater growth. The second reason is to enhance industry and functional competencies. “The third reason is to enter new markets.”
