Agile Robots, an AI-driven robotics company and key supplier to Foxconn, has acquired a majority stake in Bengaluru-based XNG Automation to strengthen its presence in India’s domestic manufacturing ecosystem.

The move is aimed at accelerating the local production of advanced automation solutions in line with India’s growing demand for smart manufacturing technologies.

Agile Robots currently provides automation solutions to major electronics manufacturers, including Foxconn and Tata Electronics, both of which are involved in Apple iPhone production in India.

Announcing the development, Agile India Managing Director Saravanan Solaiappan stated that the company has secured a majority ownership in XNG Automation, although financial details of the deal were not disclosed. He emphasized that the acquisition aligns with Agile’s strategy to rapidly scale up local manufacturing capabilities.

Founded with a focus on factory and intralogistics automation, XNG Automation employs around 200 professionals and brings deep expertise in system integration and machine vision technologies. Its solutions cater to industries such as consumer electronics, automotive, and electric vehicles, making it a strategic fit for Agile Robots’ expansion plans.

Agile Robots has previously collaborated with global clients including Bosch and Toyota, demonstrating its capabilities across diverse industrial applications.

According to Rory Sexton, Executive Director of Agile Robots, the acquisition will enable the company to expand its customer base and enhance its service offerings in India.

He noted that combining Agile’s advanced robotic hardware and AI-driven software with XNG’s strong integration expertise will support Indian manufacturers in transitioning to smart, AI-powered production systems.

Founded in 2018 as a spin-off from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Munich, Agile Robots has deployed over 20,000 robotic solutions worldwide.

In 2024, the company further strengthened its India footprint by launching a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Chennai and a regional office in Bengaluru.
