Indian sportswear company Agilitas Sports has purchased Virat Kohli’s athleisure and sportswear label One8. The company backed by Abhishek Ganguly has also secured the cricketer as an investor in a dual-part agreement.

One8, previously licensed to Puma, will now be completely owned by the company of Indian origin.

Ganguly, previously the managing director of Puma India, transitioned from the sportswear company to establish Agilitas Sports in 2023.

"Virat is no longer merely associated with One8. He is currently an investor and stakeholder in the company,” stated Ganguly, co-founder and CEO of Agilitas Sports.

He mentioned that the previous iteration of One8 worked together with another brand (Puma), but under Agilitas it will be created as an independent, standalone label.

Ganguly stated that Kohli has put in Rs.40 crore into Agilitas Sports, but he refrained from revealing the specific equity percentage the cricketer will possess.

Discussing Agilitas's vision for the next stage of One8, Ganguly stated, “It's crucial to develop this as a top-tier premium athleisure brand from India, equaling the strength of any global sportswear brand.”

He stated that Agilitas will implement a multi-channel distribution approach, and by the middle of next year, the company will launch the first exclusive One8 store.

“An entire lineup of products will be introduced under the One8 brand, with global distribution commencing in the next 12 to 15 months, and the US will be our initial market,” Ganguli stated.

Ganguly mentioned that the brand will further extend into the UK and Australia as part of its global expansion.

He mentioned that One8 shoes will have a price range of Rs.4,000 to 10,000. In India, the items will be accessible via a shopping application, an online store, marketplace platforms, and shop-in-shop formats, as well as dedicated brand outlets, each covering 2,500–3,000 sq ft.

One8 will provide footwear, clothing, and functional lifestyle items intended for use both during sports and in everyday life.

In an X post, Kohli mentioned that during his assessment of the chance to invest in Agilitas Sports, Ganguly aided him in grasping the driving force, the production abilities, the knowledge he possesses, and the type of individuals that would join the team.

Kohli stated, “I believed this could grow into something significant, and naturally, I wanted to participate.”
