Amazon.com will broaden availability of its healthcare AI assistant for users accessing its website and app, focusing on enhancing care for more than 30 conditions.

The AI assistant is capable of clarifying outcomes, linking patients with healthcare providers, and addressing inquiries regarding symptoms and medications, according to a company announcement. The model, revealed in January, was formerly available only to One Medical members, the firm's clinical services provider.

Customers are not required to be members of Prime, the company's premium prescription service, or One Medical to access the free assistant.

"Health AI aims to manage the logistical and informational tasks that cause friction in healthcare, allowing patients and providers to focus more on what truly matters," stated Andrew Diamond, chief medical officer at Amazon One Medical.

For non-urgent issues such as acne, head lice, diabetes, and sleep apnea, the agent can assist in managing symptoms, perform virtual evaluations, and offer treatment guidance.

A company representative stated that the assistant does not formulate treatment plans, and when patients need treatments or have complicated conditions, they will be referred to a provider. Appointments that necessitate a provider cost $29 for patients who are neither One Medical members nor utilizing an introductory offer via Prime.

Clients may grant the agent authorization to view medical information, such as laboratory results, records, and clinical notes. The assistant is able to examine healthcare items bought on the site, like vitamins or blood pressure monitors, to pose follow-up inquiries.
