Andhra CM Naidu to Launch Google AI Data Center in Visakhapatnam
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the foundation stone for Google's large data centre initiative near Visakhapatnam on April 28, signifying what is anticipated to be the largest foreign investment in both India and Andhra Pradesh.
The initiative, projected to require an investment of $15 billion (approximately Rs 1.35 lakh crore), will be developed over 601 acres at three sites: Adavivaram, Tarluvada, and Rambilli, located close to the coastal city of Visakhapatnam. The plant is anticipated to be completely functional by July 2028.
The government of Andhra Pradesh has allocated 601.4 acres of land for the three campuses. The biggest site, covering 266.6 acres, will be established at Tarluvada, whereas the remaining sites will be situated at Adavivaram and Rambilli.
The planned hub will possess a combined power capacity of 1 gigawatt, establishing it as India's inaugural 1-GW artificial intelligence and data centre hub, and the largest of its kind in Asia. Authorities indicate that the initiative will enhance cloud services, artificial intelligence, digital storage, and advanced computing. It will additionally feature submarine cable connectivity and high-speed fiber networks connecting Visakhapatnam to international digital infrastructure.
The government mentioned that with forthcoming infrastructure like subsea cable connections and Bhogapuram International Airport, Visakhapatnam is set to evolve into a global technology center in line with the 'Viksit Bharat 2047' (developed India) vision
The state government highlighted that the initiative will draw investments in related areas like power systems, cooling technologies, server production, and networking, aiding the growth of a strong AI ecosystem.
"According to reports, Visakhapatnam is poised to receive global recognition as major tech companies target the city, making it an attractive hub for AI and cloud-based enterprises."
Additionally, the government mentioned that with forthcoming infrastructure like subsea cable connections and Bhogapuram International Airport, Visakhapatnam is set to evolve into a global technology center in line with the 'Viksit Bharat 2047' (developed India) vision.
