Anthropic, Microsoft Announce New AI Data Center Projects
The AI firm Anthropic revealed a $50 billion investment in computing infrastructure, which will feature new data centers located in Texas and New York.
Microsoft revealed plans for a new data center being built in Atlanta, Georgia, which it described as linked to another facility in Wisconsin, together creating a "massive supercomputer" that utilizes hundreds of thousands of Nvidia chips to drive AI technology.
Recent agreements indicate that the technology sector is advancing rapidly with significant investments to create energy-intensive AI infrastructure, even amid ongoing financial worries regarding a bubble, environmental impacts, and the political consequences of soaring electricity costs in the areas where these large structures are located.
Anthropic, the creator of the chatbot Claude, announced its collaboration with London-based Fluidstack to develop new computing infrastructures to enhance its AI systems. It did not reveal their specific locations or what type of electricity they will require.

Another firm, cryptocurrency mining data center developer TeraWulf, has disclosed its collaboration with Fluidstack on Google-supported data center initiatives in Texas and New York, by the banks of Lake Ontario.

During that period, Oracle was obtaining the greatest capacity, a significant portion of which was dedicated to AI workloads for Anthropic's main competitor, OpenAI, developer of ChatGPT. Google ranked second, while Fluidstack occupied the third position, surpassing Meta, Amazon, CoreWeave, and Microsoft.
