The AI firm Anthropic revealed a $50 billion investment in computing infrastructure, which will feature new data centers located in Texas and New York.

Microsoft revealed plans for a new data center being built in Atlanta, Georgia, which it described as linked to another facility in Wisconsin, together creating a "massive supercomputer" that utilizes hundreds of thousands of Nvidia chips to drive AI technology.

Recent agreements indicate that the technology sector is advancing rapidly with significant investments to create energy-intensive AI infrastructure, even amid ongoing financial worries regarding a bubble, environmental impacts, and the political consequences of soaring electricity costs in the areas where these large structures are located.

Anthropic, the creator of the chatbot Claude, announced its collaboration with London-based Fluidstack to develop new computing infrastructures to enhance its AI systems. It did not reveal their specific locations or what type of electricity they will require.

Anthropic announced that its initiatives will generate approximately 800 permanent positions and 2,400 construction roles

A report from TD Cowen last month revealed that the top cloud computing companies rented an “astonishing” volume of U.S. data center capacity during the third fiscal quarter of this year, totaling over 7.4 gigawatts of energy, exceeding the entire amount of last year combined.
