Following the launch of Apple Intelligence on its devices, the tech company from Cupertino aims to enhance its AI features by creating a search experience similar to ChatGPT. The company has posted numerous job vacancies for various new roles in its Answers, Knowledge, and Information team.

The updated job vacancies feature roles such as Staff Machine Learning Engineer in various locations throughout the US and China. This group is anticipated to enhance the search and reaction functions of Siri, Spotlight, Safari, and various iOS-related applications.

Apple analyst Mark Gurman reports that the tech giant is developing a new search experience similar to ChatGPT, which is presently in the initial development phases. This upcoming AI search function is anticipated to be an independent application, akin to OpenAI's ChatGPT.

Mark mentions, “A separate app is presently being explored, in conjunction with new back-end systems intended to enhance search features in upcoming iterations of Siri, Spotlight, and Safari.”

This new AI search feature is currently referred to as the 'Answer engine,' which is said to examine the web based on user inquiries or general knowledge questions.

To accelerate development, Apple is allegedly recruiting to grow the Answers team throughout the US and China. One of the job postings features a Staff Machine Learning Engineer role aimed at developing smart search applications.

Additional job listings feature a Senior Speech Machine Learning Engineer tasked with enhancing Siri Conversational AI. Through this initiative, Apple joins the competition alongside Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI in recruiting top AI talent in the industry, thereby accelerating its AI development goals.

Recently, Microsoft has been in the news for attracting AI researchers from leading firms to be part of its new AI team. Apple has been pursuing AI for a considerable period, yet despite the work, it lags significantly behind its rivals.
