Arogya Setu and CoWin are equally helpful when it comes to vaccinations in India, but nonetheless Amazon’s digital assistant is also joining that hub. Users have to simply ask Alexa and the digital assistant will voice out COVID-19 related information as well as the nearest vaccinations centres.

Although the digital assistant was already known for fetching information around COVID-19 symptoms and cases in the nation, Amazon has now updated it with latest information to help users with any information regarding the same, especially if those vaccinations are still due.

Speaking of providing the nearest vaccination centers, Amazon joined forces with MapmyIndia to not only direct users towards those centers but provide them with travel distance as well.

MapmyIndia on the other hand will do its part by enabling real-time data availability onto the digital assistant through its location APIs. These Application Program Interface or APIs are just a set of functions and procedures that help build software.

Additionally, this leaves MapmyIndia to take an endeavor in delivering cutting-edge location based cloud services.

Alexa will now be able to provide information on testing and vaccination centres, as well as immunisation availability, COVID-19 hotline numbers, information on how to help with COVID-19 relief, and much more.

"By making our Location APIs and hyperlocal content available on Amazon Alexa, we are not only promoting our services, but also supporting the Indian people by delivering hyperlocal search on Alexa, whether they are at home or on the road”, stated Rohan Verma, CEO and Executive Director, MapmyIndia.

Additionally, the digital assistant will not merely guide its user towards vaccination centres, but will only list those centres unless the vaccines are in stock. Therefore, the digital assistant takes away that disappointment for its user when finding out unavailability of vaccines after arriving at their destination.

To fetch those nearest centres, the digital assistant uses the user’s location from their device registration and then provides a list of all the nearest centres. It’s said that these information are analysed using the CoWIN portal, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's website, and MapmyIndia.

Moreover users can help their family, companions and familiar folk if using the Vaccine Info Alexa Skill to book appointments even when they are stationed in other PIN Codes.

However, by any circumstances should the user be met with unavailability of vaccines, have no fear, for Alexa has got that covered as well. As the digital assistant will set a reminder in its skill to keep track of the vaccine availability for the next day.

Alexa will now be able to provide information on testing and vaccination centres, as well as immunisation availability, COVID-19 hotline numbers, information on how to help with COVID-19 relief, and much more.
