AVEVA, an industrial software company, launches Vision AI Assistant 2021, an image classification-based analytics tool. It is an artificial intelligence (AI) solution which can be infused with AVEVA System Platform and Operations Management Interface and AVEVA Insight.

Customer’s video and images from current general purpose cameras can be captured and it can be converted into user friendly information with timely alerts.

Designed for low latency industrial environments, Vision AI Assistant influences, trains and organizes 24x7 AI models boosting situational awareness to help operators focus on the task at hand without continuously monitoring live camera feeds.

Product applications include:
•Vision AI assistance can be used in standard digital cameras to safeguard quality control by analyzing the quality of water treatment fluids, evaluating whether a hopper is full or empty, or identifying defective products on a production line.

Kenneth Labhart, Innovation Leader of Global Supply Chain North America, Schneider Electric says that, “AVEVA’s Vision AI is monitoring and analyzing the 1.5 km main drive chain for our Lexington, Kentucky, smart factory which manufactures electric breaker panels.

•Similarly, Vision AI Assistant can scan thermal or infrared camera feeds which help operations teams to uncover visual conflicts. For example, by locating compressed air or fluid leaks, it can reduce failure and efficiency loss, and by spotting hot-spots in a data center, it can inhibit overheating of critical equipment.

•The AI solution also supports the maintenance through constant plants monitoring, machinery and diagnosis of equipment issues weeks, or months before failure.

Kenneth Labhart, Innovation Leader of Global Supply Chain North America, Schneider Electric says that, “AVEVA’s Vision AI is monitoring and analyzing the 1.5 km main drive chain for our Lexington, Kentucky, smart factory which manufactures electric breaker panels. If that chain goes down, our entire factory comes to a halt, which typically happens a few times per year. Vision AI has already provided early detection of issues with parts of this chain on two occasions, giving us the ability to take proactive action. Through this, we avoid revenue-impacting, unplanned downtime. We’re looking forward to expanding our usage of this AI system”.

Jim Chappell, Global Head of AI and Advanced Analytics, AVEVA states that the breakthrough technology is a game changer that transforms factory operations through the power of AI. The Vision AI Assistant enables enhanced process optimization by reducing time, wastage, and costs. Cameras can also be used in areas that are not suitable for humans in security or safety concerns, freeing up workers to focus on high-value tasks instead of continuously monitoring live camera feeds.

Vision AI Assistant is the addition of AVEVA System Platform which purchases through the AVEVA Flex subscription initiative. The flexible payment and usage program extends any mix of cloud, hybrid, and on-premises solutions across AVEVA's portfolio which provide simple license purchasing, usage and management.
