Bharat Forge Limited (BFL), India's premier forging and advanced engineering company, has partnered with Windracers Limited, a UK-based producer of the high-capacity dual-purpose Windracers ULTRA drone, through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration on deployment, localization, and operational uses of ULTRA Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) throughout India. This MoU was established at DSEI UK 2025 in London.

This alliance advances the UK-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA) by promoting aerospace technology exchange and innovation, while supporting the India-UK Vision 2035 objectives. The initial two-year partnership will concentrate on localization efforts, collaborative testing, and creating a detailed strategy for ULTRA implementation in India.

This joint venture seeks to address growing needs within Indian defense and civilian applications, encompassing Carrier On Board Delivery (COD) missions for the Indian Navy, essential logistics operations for the Army and Air Force, and additional strategic functions across various operational settings.

The Windracers ULTRA has shown its versatility across multiple mission types through global deployments, such as research operations in Antarctica, and is anticipated to offer comparable operational benefits in India.

ULTRA incorporates specialized mission management and autonomous flight systems, enabling operational durations of six to seven hours in various settings, spanning from coastal islands to elevated Himalayan altitudes and isolated Northeastern areas. This memorandum of understanding represents the joint commitment of both organizations to promote unmanned aerial vehicle advancement, technological progress, and aviation sector development within India.
