
Contact-Free Parking FASTag To Be Implemented Soon In Malls And Airports


FASTag-based contact free parking solution at malls and airports in Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore to be made in the next months. National Payments Corporation of India is in discussion with the topmost Indian banks to make this project successful.
FASTag is implemented in 10 FASTag issuing banks in GMR Hyderabad International Airport, NPCI (from source statements). (NETC) powers the interoperable parking solution.
ICICI Bank, the private sector’s one of the biggest banks is in the news to be one of the banks to implement the technology in the aforesaid cities (as per NPCI). At first the technology is set to get deployed in Delhi and Mumbai.
NPCI has started discussions with malls, airports and private parking spaces in Chennai and Bangalore to implement the NETC FASTag powered contact-free parking. NPCI is already receiving interests from topmost banks to implement the project as soon as possible.
At present, FASTa is implemented in highway toll plazas for contact-free parking processing of tickets. These transactions happen by RFID sticker linked to the bank account commuter.
Head of Unsecured Assets, ICICI Bank, Sudipta Roy said, “It is a safe, contact-free and hassle-free system. This technology is powered by RFID and it is already in practice in digital toll collection in 695+ toll plazas in the country.”
