Emerson to Help Visakh Refinery Achieve Business Excellence: HPCL

The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), an Indian public sector oil and gas company, appoints Emerson to help one of major oil refineries, Visakh Refinery to achieve operational excellence through Emerson’s delivery of its automation software and services including the DeltaVTM Operator Training (OTS).

The DeltaV OTS which is a conjoined digital technology is said to help people at Visakh Refinery by supporting their workforce upskill, process optimization as well as ensuring safety. The digital twin will do the needful by facilitating structured operator training to enhance HPCL’s overall improvement of operational excellence.

Through its virtual training, HPCL’s operators will also be well equipped to handle various operational challenges.

Regarding the increase in production quality, the digital twin will work alongside DeltaV’s distributed control system to have a command over the process variability.

Anil Bhatia, Vice President and Managing Director, Emerson, India proclaimed that, “Emerson is dedicated to collaborating with HPCL’s Visakh Refinery to help it achieve its digital transformation vision”.

WirelessHART™ technologies are also utilized at the HPCL Visakh Refinery to monitor and deliver advanced analytics which will promote maintenance decisions and improve plant reliability.

Currently Emerson is involved in boosting its presence in Talegaon, Pune and the upcoming Mahindra World City, Chennai by increasing local investments in facilities like the newly announced Emerson Integrated Manufacturing Center (EIMC).

Earlier Emerson’s group president of digital transformation, Stuart Harris talked about how wireless measurement technology will primarily evolve as its eyes and ears on looking its production process, as COVID driven transitions to remote operations are ever dynamic.

Since the 1980s, Emerson has been an investment company in India. With the growing links between manufacturing and services and a rapidly expanding domestic market, companies such as Emerson have considered making India a centre of manufacturing in this region.
