GalaxEye, an Indian space tech startup developing advanced Earth Observation abilities through its unique OptoSAR technology, has acquired StarOps, a Bengaluru-based spacecraft engineering firm that originates from TeamIndus, one of India's first private space initiatives.

The acquisition represents an important milestone in GalaxEye's progression toward becoming a completely integrated space technology firm.

The integration combines StarOps' unique technologies, certified satellite platforms, and extensive systems engineering knowledge, along with a skilled engineering team, several members of which previously contributed to TeamIndus on the Lunar Lander and Rover.

GalaxEye's abilities across the satellite value chain are further enhanced by their comprehensive experience, from mission design to end-of-life.

Founded in 2022, StarOps was created to build satellite platforms and localize essential spacecraft technologies in India. This acquisition adds years of experience in satellite design, development, and qualification to GalaxEye, enhancing its internal capabilities even further.

The StarOps team offers expertise in spacecraft systems engineering, mission operations, propulsion, avionics, flight computing, guidance and navigation, structures and mechanisms, electrical systems, program management, and ground operations. The team is additionally backed by a panel of seasoned ISRO specialists with significant expertise in designing, qualifying, and executing intricate space missions.

Additionally, the integration enhances GalaxEye with a robust collection of native spacecraft technologies and engineering expertise. These encompass certified satellite bus platforms within the 50-kg, 150-kg, and 250-kg categories, exclusive subsystem technologies, qualification track record, testing facilities, and engineering tools.

StarOps has achieved over 66 percent indigenization in its satellite systems, developing technologies that lessen reliance on global supply chains, allowing for quicker development cycles and reduced mission expenses.
