Government to Announce the Results of National Startup Awards Tomorrow

The union government is set to announce the results of the first ever National Startup Awards tomorrow (06-10-2020) at 3:30 PM. An iconic award ceremony under the Startup India program, the National Startup Awards was introduced in the yesteryear to recognize and reward outstanding startups and ecosystem enablers that are building innovative products or solutions and scalable enterprises, with high potential of employment generation or wealth creation, demonstrating measurable social impact. The parameters of

winning the award goes beyond the financial gains for the investors to include contribution to the social good.

The results will be announced by Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal at the National Media Centre, New Delhi, and the virtual felicitation ceremony will be held in the presence of Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, Shri Som Parkash. The event will be webcasted live on NIC, MyGov and related social media channels.

The first edition of the Awards earlier had invited applications across 12 sectors, which were further sub-classified into a total of 35 categories. Agriculture, Education, Enterprise Technology, Energy, Finance, Food, Health, Industry 4.0, Space, Security, Tourism and Urban Services comprise the 12 main categories. Besides these categories, the startups that have created a commendable impact in the rural areas, women-led startups and the ones founded in academic campuses will also be recognized.

The winners are set to receive cash prizes of Rs.5 lakh each, along with opportunities to present their solutions to relevant public authorities and corporates, for potential pilot projects and work orders. The winners and runners up will also be given priority for participation in various National and International Startup events sponsored by DPIIT. As key building blocks of a robust Startup ecosystem, one exceptional Incubator and one Accelerator each will also get a cash prize of Rs 15 lakh.
