Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, the two-wheeler division of Japan's Honda Motor Co, anticipates generating more than 3,800 jobs in India as it increases total annual production capacity to 8 million units by 2028, as stated by President & CEO Tsutsumu Otani.

As India plays a vital role in Honda's global manufacturing and export plans, its production capacity is aimed at meeting both local demand and the expanding international markets, Otani mentioned.

Though electric mobility is a crucial component of Honda's long-term vision, he mentioned that the company is dedicated to a balanced, multi-faceted strategy that includes ICE, electrification, and alternative fuel technologies in India.

"Honda's global manufacturing and export strategy increasingly relies on India's significance." "Our production capabilities are aimed not just at meeting local needs but also at bolstering expanding global markets," Otani stated.

With export demand on the rise, he stated, "We are putting resources into enhancing our production capacities to effectively cater to both local and international clients."

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) now exports to 65 countries, including established markets like Europe and Japan, Otani stated, noting that "our export figures have consistently increased from 0.36 million units in FY24 to 0.51 million units in FY25 and 0.62 million units in FY26, showcasing India's rising significance as a key global manufacturing center for Honda".

In 2025, HMSI declared the launch of a fourth production line at its Vithalapur facility in Gujarat, involving an investment of Rs.920 crore, set to start operations in 2027.

The firm boasts an annual production capacity exceeding 6 million units spread across its four factories situated in Manesar (Haryana), Tapukara (Rajasthan), Narasapura (Karnataka), and Vithalapur (Gujarat).
