India is Added to Global Industrial Map of JLR : Chandrasekan

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the new production plant of Tata Motors passenger cars and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) in Ranipet. JLR plans to produce 2.5 to 3 lakh vehicles each year at the new facility, stated Tata Group Chairperson Natarajan Chandrasekaran, noting that the plant's inauguration places India on the global industrial landscape for the luxury vehicle brand.

The facility represents a major growth for the Jaguar Land Rover brand, which presently carries out testing and production in the UK, Austria, China, and Brazil.

"India is now officially part of the global industrial landscape for the luxury vehicle brand with the inauguration of the Ranipet plant," he stated.

The plant will manufacture both internal combustion engine (ICE) cars and electric vehicles (EVs).
During the event, Chandrasekaran mentioned that Stalin launched the Land Rover Evoque Model, the first vehicle produced. He remembered that Stalin inaugurated the project 16 months prior and expressed his complete backing for Tata Motors. He disclosed that the initiative adheres to a three-phase planning timeline that is set to be completed in four years.

Chandrasekaran pointed out that the "Tata Motors, JLR sector will reach an advanced stage" as it increases production in the upcoming years.

Additionally, the Tata Sons chairman outlined Tata Group's increasing presence in Tamil Nadu through the growth of multiple sectors, such as Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Power, Tata Chemicals, Indian Hotels Taj, and Tata Electronics.

TRB Rajaa, the State Minister for Industries, Investment Promotions and Commerce, emphasized that the creation of a new Jaguar Land Rover manufacturing plant in Ranipet is expected to create 5,000 direct jobs, representing a notable growth of the luxury brand's presence in India.

He additionally mentioned that the facility signifies the initial stage of a broader development strategy for the site, and that the effects of the investment go beyond the immediate confines of the factory. In the future, the state government expects additional growth at the new location. Rajaa noted that the ongoing operations constituted just the preliminary phase of the project.
