Japanese Team Explores Green Energy Ties with Uttar Pradesh

A group from Japan's Yamanashi Prefecture engaged with officials from Uttar Pradesh to talk about investment and cooperation, especially concerning green energy initiatives. The three-day trip intends to enhance relationships between Yamanashi and Uttar Pradesh and bolster India-Japan collaboration.

The conversations centered around areas such as renewable energy, green hydrogen, infrastructure, tourism, and hospitality. On the initial day, the delegation met with the energy department and UPNEDA (Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency) to discuss collaboration in clean energy and sustainable development.

The delegation from Yamanashi, featuring Narendra Upadhyay, an advisor to the Prefectural government, along with representatives from Kanadevia Corporation and Kinki Nippon Tourist Company, expressed their opinions.

Officials from Uttar Pradesh, such as Additional Chief Secretary Narendra Bhooshan and UPNEDA Director Inderjeet Singh, unveiled the green energy roadmap for the state, highlighting green hydrogen projects.

The delegation presented its concept for teamwork. The Yamanashi delegation expressed its vision for partnership, declaring that Yamanashi Prefecture would provide advanced technological expertise, while Kanadevia would offer knowledge in green hydrogen production, including technology transfer and technical assistance, according to reports.

The Japanese delegation expressed interest in the Uttar Pradesh Green Hydrogen Policy 2024, which outlines plans for pilot initiatives, infrastructure development, and a framework that attracts investors. The potential for partnership on two suggested Centres of Excellence, to be directed by IIT-BHU and IIT Kanpur, was also addressed.

Fujiyama Power Systems has launched a 1 gigawatt solar cell production facility in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh, signifying a substantial enhancement of its internal manufacturing abilities. The establishment has been created with an overall investment of approximately Rs 3 billion, financed through a combination of internal resources and loans.

Solar cells play an essential role in the creation of solar panels, and the launch of the new facility matches the government's effort to enhance local manufacturing and cut down on imports. The initiative aims to strengthen supply chain robustness and elevate integration within the solar value chain.
