JSW Infrastructure Limited has revealed plans to invest Rs. 57.43 crores in purchasing an existing Rail Siding facility located in Kudathini, Ballari, Karnataka.

The acquisition will be executed through the company's subsidiary, JSW Port Logistics Private Limited, as part of efforts to broaden JSW Infrastructure's logistics operations and improve multimodal transportation capabilities.

The purchased property covers 85.71 acres and was formerly held by Hothur Ispat Private Limited. This calculated decision is anticipated to strengthen JSW Infrastructure's standing as a prominent comprehensive logistics operator.

The Kudathini facility is undergoing transformation into an advanced Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP), which will include contemporary ground infrastructure, container management systems, a Rail Freight Terminal (RFT), and a completely operational Inland Container Depot (ICD). Business activities are projected to begin in the coming six months, with gradual scaling up of operations.

The overall capital investment for this initiative is projected at Rs.380 crores, which encompasses the Rs.57.43 crores acquisition cost. This funding will be allocated across several years to completely transform the location into an all-encompassing logistics center.

Positioned advantageously close to JSW Steel's Vijayanagar facility and additional JSW Group operations, the Kudathini siding provides considerable logistical benefits for streamlined transportation of raw materials, intermediate products, and final goods. Its location within an established industrial environment is projected to draw and increase external cargo capacity.

As a major component of the JSW Group, JSW Infrastructure Limited holds the position of India's second-biggest private commercial port operator

The absence of a railway-connected ICD in the Ballari area currently results in higher transportation expenses as containerized import-export goods must be moved by road. The planned ICD is anticipated to significantly reduce these logistics expenses while offering customers in the area a comprehensive integrated logistics service.
