Karnataka Chip Hub to Be Ready by December 2026: MB Patil
Karnataka has made significant progress in its ambition to become India's semiconductor hub, with Industries Minister MB Patil announcing that the state's 200-acre Semiconductor Park at KWIN City Phase-1 is expected to become operational by December 2026.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of the 15th Strategic Electronics Summit 2026, organised by the Electronic Industries Association of India (ELCINA) at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) on Thursday.
Addressing industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders, Patil said the upcoming semiconductor park will play a pivotal role in strengthening Karnataka's electronics manufacturing ecosystem and attracting global semiconductor companies.
He added that the state government is also preparing to unveil its 2026-2031 Aerospace and Defence Policy, which will focus on developing integrated clusters for advanced electronic warfare systems, embedded software, e-Vital devices, and space payload technologies. The policy aims to further position Karnataka as a leading destination for advanced technology manufacturing and innovation.

Patil highlighted that nearly two years ago, the state approved investments worth ₹23,000 crore in the semiconductor and Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sectors. These projects are expected to generate more than 3,500 highly skilled engineering jobs, boosting employment while strengthening the state's technology capabilities.

Patil emphasized that Karnataka's vision extends beyond semiconductor manufacturing. The government aims to build a complete semiconductor value chain, enabling companies to undertake chip design, research and development, prototype development, testing, certification, manufacturing, and exports within a single integrated ecosystem.

He also urged industry leaders to support Semiconductor Mission 2.0 through Karnataka, reinforcing the state's ambition to emerge as India's premier semiconductor and advanced electronics destination.
