Karnataka plans to distribute the initial set of 2,000 AI-capable KEO PCs throughout the state. KEO is an AI-ready personal computer developed locally and is priced at Rs 18,999, according to reports.

The launch represents an important advancement in Karnataka's initiatives to extend artificial intelligence beyond Bengaluru and into rural libraries, schools, and communities.

"In the initial phase, most of the systems will be installed in rural libraries, while the rest will be allocated to educational establishments," it stated.

These systems aim to enhance AI literacy, spoken English, digital skills, competitive exam readiness, prompt engineering, and Karnataka State Board educational materials for learners in grades six to ten.

The program is a component of a broader vision associated with ArivuKendra.ai and Schools.ai to implement AI-driven systems throughout 239 taluks, guaranteeing that rural students and young people are not neglected in the AI advancement, the statement indicated.

KEO utilizes an open-source architecture and is driven by a RISC-V processor, allowing artificial intelligence applications to operate locally on the device. This enables the systems to operate efficiently even in regions with poor internet connectivity, providing advanced tools to last-mile users throughout Karnataka.

Priyank Kharge, the Karnataka Minister for Information Technology and Biotechnology, visited the KEONICS manufacturing site in Peenya to assess the assembly and launch of KEO.
