After its addition on Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), Kochi Metro tickets can now be purchased by commuters through a variety of applications on the platform.

This makes Kochi Metro Rail the second metro service to join the network, after Chennai Metro's integration.

The applications where commuters can buy Kochi Metro single journey and return journey tickets are ONDC's Yatri, Paytm, Rapido, and redBus buyer applications starting April 4.

Additionally, reservation of tickets can be done through the PhonePe app and other services like Uber, EaseMyTrip, and Google Maps will soon be enabled for the same.

For new buyers, the Kochi Metro ticket inventory can be instantly accessed once joining the app.

T Koshy, chief executive, ONDC, said, “As we move forward, it is exciting to witness newer entities joining the open network, ultimately creating an ecosystem wherein everything whether it's metro tickets, auto booking, cab bookings, grocery shopping etc - all is available in one open network”.

As per ONDC’s total orders, mobility accounted for 53.41 percent (41,05,459) orders in March alone (76,85,286).

On March 1 there were over 41.2 million transactions made in FY 23–24 on ONDC.

While traveling, users can buy meals, groceries, and other necessities, scheduling their purchases to fit their itinerary.

Metros can join ONDC as sellers and give buyer apps access to their inventories. Purchasing applications that have customer bases that join the network can reach any metro with just one integration.
