Meta Explores $20 Billion Bond Sale to Fund AI Infrastructure Push
Meta is exploring the possibility of raising at least $20 billion through a cross-border bond sale as the technology giant looks to secure additional funding for its expanding investments in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, according to reports.
The proposed fundraising initiative comes as major technology companies increase spending on data centres, computing capacity and other infrastructure required to develop and deploy advanced AI technologies.
According to Bloomberg, which cited people familiar with the matter, Meta has not yet made a final decision on the bond offering. The overall fundraising amount could also increase depending on investor demand.
The company has reportedly approached Citigroup and Morgan Stanley to organise investor calls scheduled for Monday and Tuesday. The proposed bond issuance is expected to include both US dollar- and euro-denominated debt.
The dollar-denominated bonds could carry maturities ranging from five to 30 years, while the euro-denominated offering may include maturities spanning approximately four years to more than 38 years, Bloomberg reported.
The potential bond sale highlights Meta's efforts to diversify its funding sources as it commits substantial capital to strengthening its AI capabilities and infrastructure.
