Microchip Technology Expands its India Footprint

Microchip Technology, a prominent semiconductor firm simplifying innovative design via comprehensive systems solutions, has broadened its presence in India by acquiring 1.72 lakh square feet (16,000 square meters) of premium office space at the Export Promotion Industrial Park (EPIP) Zone located in Whitefield, Bengaluru.

This action emphasizes the firm's ongoing commitment to enhancing its engineering and design skills in the area.

The center will act as a vital expansion of Microchip’s Bengaluru Development Center, capable of housing more than 3,000 employees within the next decade. It aims to accommodate the expanding workforce and upcoming recruitment strategies, foster improved collaboration among global and regional teams, and offer modern infrastructure for sophisticated research and development.

Talking on the new acquisition, Srikanth Settikere, vice president and managing director of Microchip’s India Development Center stated, “At Microchip, growth is about creating opportunities as much as scaling operations. With India contributing to nearly 20 percent of global semiconductor design talent, our new Bengaluru facility will sharpen our advanced IC design focus and strengthen our engagement in one of the country’s most dynamic technology hubs.”

Through this expansion, the company enhances its ability to provide cutting-edge semiconductor solutions across various sectors, including industrial, automotive, consumer, aerospace and defense, as well as communications and computing markets

Steve Sanghi, President and CEO of Microchip says, “We recently celebrated Microchip’s 25th anniversary in India and this office acquisition is a testament to our commitment in India. We believe our investments in the region will enable us to both benefit from and contribute to the country’s increasingly important role in the global semiconductor industry.”

The acquisition in Bengaluru marks Microchip’s second establishment in the city, in addition to its already existing locations in Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, and New Delhi, emphasizing its enduring dedication to product innovation, business support, and talent development in India.
