Nara Lokesh Lays Foundation for Sify's AI Edge Data Center

Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh inaugurated the foundation for Sify Technologies' Rs. 1,500 crore AI Edge Data Center and Open Cable Landing Station (CLS) in this location.

Sify, a subsidiary of NASDAQ-listed Sify Technologies, is developing a 50-megawatt facility on 3.6 acres of government-leased land in Visakhapatnam.

"Lokesh established the groundwork for Sify Technologies' Rs. 1,500 crore AI Edge Data Center and Open Cable Landing Station (CLS) in Visakhapatnam, signifying a new chapter in digital infrastructure," according to reports.

The AI Edge Data Center and CLS are anticipated to establish Vizag as India's upcoming global digital gateway, enhancing subsea connectivity and AI framework. The announcement stated that the initiative is expected to create jobs for more than 1,000 individuals and improve AI computing capabilities at the edge.

It is anticipated to enhance data sharing between India and Southeast Asian nations like Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and Thailand.

"The initiative represents a significant advancement in turning North Andhra into a technology-centric area," the statement cited Lokesh as remarking.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed his happiness regarding a significant investment for the state, enhancing digital infrastructure and worldwide connectivity through the initiative by Sify Technologies.

The CM stated that the data center will stimulate digital innovation, generate job prospects for young people, and enhance Andhra Pradesh's role in the global technology and innovation landscape.

Naidu remarked that the incorporation of the CLS will improve global connectivity with Southeast Asia and further.
