
NTPC to Establish Nuclear Projects Independently

NTPC, a leading power company, is developing plans to establish nuclear power facilities through both joint venture partnerships and independent operations, according to CMD Gurdeep Singh.
The organization is working with technology suppliers and state governments to investigate separate nuclear initiatives, Singh noted. Currently, NTPC Group operates with an installed capacity of 82,926 MW, utilizing coal, liquid fuel, hydro and solar energy sources.
In December 2024, CMD Singh revealed NTPC's bold strategy to venture into nuclear energy, which will expand the government-owned power firm's non-fossil fuel energy offerings.
Speaking at a session during the 'Bihar Business Connect 2024' conference in Patna, Singh explained that considering the energy sector's future trajectory, nuclear power is anticipated to play a crucial role in the industry over the next 20-30 years.

NTPC is now moving into the nuclear energy domain. Providing details about nuclear initiatives, the CMD stated in a corporate document that the company is partnering with different nuclear technology suppliers and state governments to develop independent projects.
