NETRA, NTPC's research and development division, will create a green hydrogen plant utilizing Plasma Gasification technology at its site in Greater Noida. As per an NTPC announcement, the plant intends to generate one tonne of green hydrogen daily. This initiative is a component of the organization’s larger strategy to enhance its footprint in the renewable energy field and promote eco-friendly methods.

The facility will utilize cutting-edge plasma gasification technology to convert waste into a clean gas known as syngas. This gas contains no tar and acts as a foundation for producing hydrogen. To obtain the final product, the syngas will experience a specific purification process utilizing PSA or membrane technology. The initiative will utilize municipal solid waste and agricultural residues as the primary raw materials to produce the fuel.
